“Ugh, sales is nasty and manipulative!”

I was chatting with a new sales person who is working in consulting. Her description of sales was, “Ugh, sales is nasty and manipulative! I’m just going to find out how I can help people and gently lead them to where they want to go.”

Lots of people feel this way about sales. Rightfully so. There have been so many harmful tactics for so long that continue to get passed down from generation to generation.

The good news is that the message is slowly changing. It’s a glacial pace, but progress is being made.

Sales the old way = aggressive, power plays, tactics, manipulation, win

Sales the new way = calm and clear, collaboration, guide, flexibility, help
