Trust the process, yes…but it’s also really hard some times. Selling can be an emotional roller coaster ride, sending you to ecquisite peaks and then plummeting you to the depths of despair.
This is yet another reason selling may not feel so good. Who wants to subject themselves to that?
Part of the reason for these emotional swings though is a poor sales process. That is, you may have skipped or skimped on a step. Perhaps it was unclear expectations or failure to uncover root causes.
This can create a world of confusion and hurt for both you and your buyer.
Here’s some good news.
Maybe my experience at a Taylor Swift concert can help your sales endeavors. Stick with me. It’s a good story.
I was able to attend a show with my 15-year-old son a few years back.
We had nosebleed seats. The people on the stage looked like ants.
But we showed up. We even dressed up. I wore a custom-made Taylor Swift shirt and my son was dressed entirely in bright shiny gold.
To our surprise, someone from Taylor’s entourage invited us down front – into the snake pit!
This is front row!
My son was over the moon. I too was fairly excited.
The show was amazing…
I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment so I wanted to get a great shot of Taylor up close with my iPhone.
I tried over and over, but they were coming out poorly.
I was getting bumped, elbowed, and someone stepped on my foot.
I kept trying.
I waited…
I stayed in the game.
I discovered that if I held my phone way up over my head and slowly tracked her movements, I was getting better results.
I was ready.
When she made her made down one of many walkways in a very elborate stage set up, I systematically captured some of the best photos I’ve ever taken with my iPhone.
It took 94 tries.
But I got several incredible, memorable, and wildly expressive shots of Taylor Swift live and in action.

I tell this story because it’s similar when we’re working deals. We may get knocked around, but calm, steady focus on execution of the process (amidst all the noise and chaos) can win the day.
I hope this helps.
