It’s a drag when prospects don’t respond. Did I do something wrong? Don’t they like me anymore? What’s happening? I’ve felt all of these feelings when selling.
This is no way to feel!
Here’s some good news. It’s a principle I learned from one of my sales mentors.
The 15-second voicemail.
First the principle: the goal of voicemail is to get a response to your email
That is, voicemail is not meant to sell, or to beg to “call me back.” Rather, voicemail is meant to get a response to something – that something is your email.
When I first learned this sales principle I said, “There’s NO WAY THAT WILL WORK!”
But it did.
Over and over.
In fact, I have a 100% response rate.
What’s the voicemail?
“Hi [first name], It’s Ted. I suspect you have a lot on your plate. If you could take a minute and respond to my email I would appreciate it. Thanks, [first name].”
Tone matters – calm, assertive, but friendly.
Try it and let me know.
I hope this helps.
