Stop overcomplicating your solution

A lot of sellers complicate their solution unnecessarily. If you’ve ever seen a seller drone on about minutia and details using jargon and industry speak, you’ve witnessed this (or have fallen into this trap yourself).

Why does this happen?

  1. You know so much about your product and services
  2. You don’t have a clear solution path
  3. You’re excited and/or anxious
  4. You didn’t identify a clear problem to solve and so you show everything

Try this instead :

  1. Break your solution down to 3 steps
  2. Use simple language – zero jargon
  3. De-risk change and invite to take a step with you

Here’s an example from an accounting firm.

Rather than you getting bogged down in tax paperwork and government process:

  1. We take care of all your tax preparation and processing
  2. Our A-Z approach saves you time and eliminates errors
  3. You’re able to enjoy peace of mind and focus on your business

You can always expand on details.

But keep it simple!
