Salesy will not survive in today’s climate

Don’t sabotage your selling efforts with amateur moves. Amateur sales & marketing moves result from sales tips, tactics, and techniques. Everyone has sales (and marketing) advice. Here’s why you need to be careful.

– Sales tips require context – what works in one context, may not in another

– Sales tactics are manipulative – these hurt people, and will come back to bite you

– Sales techniques are outdated – what worked 10 years ago (or 10 months), may be outdated

Instead consider developing your:

– Sales philosophy – why do you sell? What’s your purpose? Really reflect on this…

– Stake out your sales principles – what’s important to you and your customers?

– Execute a sales process – stop winging it, and create a clear path that help your prospect find their way

The latter will help you to be seen as a trusted advisor instead of salesy.
