OMG they missed the point…
Like a lot of you, I get bombarded with sales & marketing emails. Every once in awhile I’ll pluck one out and rewrite it, suggesting some tactical and strategic changes – just for kicks
Recently, I got a series of discount emails from a company – 20% off, then 50%, then 70%
I opened one up to take a look
And here’s the thing…
I didn’t know what they were selling
In other words, I didn’t know the problem they solved for me.
So here they are devaluing their product and service by 70%
And here’s the kick in the head – guess what they do?
Sell with video
So I sent them a “video” explaining I was all set and suggested a few strategic shifts – as well as a link to my book 🙂
The good news, someone in marketing responded with a video – well done
They thanked me for my input – well done
But then proceeded to talk about
- Them
- Their product
- Their company
