Just show me

The conversation with my 17-year-old daughter boiled down to: “just show me.”

I’m always curious how to best sell & market online. So I asked my daughter how she used the web to find what she needed.

Here are some direct quotes that reflect some of the sweeping changes in user behavior:

  1. Google takes too long to find what I need
  2. I only use Google as a last resort
  3. I never use Facebook – unless I have to
  4. Instagram reels gives me what I want instantly
  5. Reels are super fast – and the pictures provide extra confirmation I’ve found the right thing
  6. TikTok is fun, but I use Reels more
  7. Scrolling through text (or blogs) takes too long – and it’s boring
  8. Video is way better
  9. Don’t make me read a bunch of stuff
  10. Just show me! (her emphasis)

Three take aways for your next generation of buyers:

  1. Location & medium
  2. Speed – get to the point
  3. Just show me a video (a short one)
