Lack of sales confidence, imposter syndrome, and selling anxiety are very real. And it doesn’t feel good. But there’s good news. There’s a surprisingly simple way to find your way through this messiness.
I learned it from my 17-year-old daughter, Faith.
She developed it with her Broadway coach, as the pressure to perform is high.
Ready?
It’s a simple mantra: Face – Replace – Embrace
- Face the feeling – don’t hide from it
- Replace the feeling – with something positive (or a reframe)
- Embrace – embrace what?
*** Embrace another human being ***
A hug.
- A hug will re-center you
- A hug will re-connect you
- A hug will empower you
You can’t think your way to confidence, or out of anxiety, or out of imposter syndrome.
You have to “act” your way through it
- Too often, we rely on rational thinking
- Or, lean on encouragement and platitudes
These are not bad, or wrong, just incomplete.
Because they don’t help you navigate emotional labyrinths.
So…
Hug it out
Crazy?
Not at all….hard times, long times, funerals, upsets…etc
All these are hugged out.
- Why not sales anxiety
- Why not imposter syndrome
- Why not a lack of confidence
So….
- face those fears
- replace those thoughts with something good
- but then take action
A simple hug
I hope this helps!
