I had high hopes…

I took another cold call. This one from a reputable provider for a sales & marketing tool. I had high hopes…

They were dashed

I was treated like a number….he talked about him, the company, and the product

And then tried to qualify me:

  • is this your role
  • do you use this software

Ugh!

He was checking boxes – for him!

I would have coached him, but when I told him I wasn’t the right person, he began ending the call. 

Here’s what he didn’t know:

  1. I was friends with the person he needed to talk to
  2. I hold influence in the organization
  3. I knew the hurdles he’d have to overcome

But those misses aside, he didn’t treat me like a human being

  • How to be interested in them 101
  • How to have a business conversations 101
  • How to create a safe space 101
