Excitement and Passion In Your Sales Conversations Can Hurt You

You know that feeling you get when you’ve got someone interested in your services? It’s a great feeling. However, too much excitement and passion get you into trouble.

It can come off as:

  1. Too emotional
  2. Over-the-top
  3. Too salesly
  4. Untrustworthy
  5. Overselling
  6. Unsafe
  7. Anxious

None of these are great at moving a deal forward.

But wait – won’t my excitement and passion inspire my prospect?

Maybe – if you’re lucky.

But luck is not a great sales approach.

What should you do?

  1. Be calm assertive
  2. Have a non-anxious presence
  3. Be curious
  4. Be intentional
  5. Ask questions
  6. Pause a lot
  7. Listen to understand
