Avoid this phrase in your sales conversations – “I’d love to…”
“I’d love to” sounds like begging in sales.
Here’s how it comes across:
- I’d love to set up some time to talk
- I’d love to show you what we can do
- I’d love to invite your CEO to join us
This has a number of problems:
- This is focused on what you want
- It’s not allowing your prospect the dignity and freedom to choose
- It sounds like begging
I don’t want this for you!
The great news is that the fix is easy.
Replace “I’d love to” with:
- Should…
- Would…
- Does
- And provide a choice
Here’s some examples:
- Should we set up some time to talk or not so much?
- Would this be helpful in your context, or is this not what you had in mind?
- Does this seem like a good next step, or am I off base?
Starting these phrases with should, would, or does is more collaborative, professional, and clear.
And by providing a choice, your prospect feels safe. They’ll feel included and engaged.
And you never sound like you’re begging.
So…
Remove “I’d love to” from your sales conversations.
Replace it with should, would, or does and provide a choice.
I hope this helps.
