We are more connected than ever (digitally); yet, we’re more disconnected than ever as human beings. This doesn’t feel good.
It doesn’t feel good for your prospects either. So, add a little humanity to your sales presentations. It’ll make them feel safer with you.
One of my favorite things to do is to make my welcome slide all about my prospect (their name, title, company, logo…etc), and to add a very short blurb about me.
This little blurb helps to make a human connection.
Here’s an example:
Ted is passionate about helping people feel good about selling. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Nicole, homeschooling their four amazing kids, and enjoying their two dogs.
That’s it. I highlight the problem I solve for my clients, and then show that I’m human.
Dozens of prospects light up and talk about raising kids, dogs, homeschooling, and more.
By the way, these simple efforts at connection should not be confused with rapport. Building rapport is when you make it very clear that you know your prospect’s business. You understand their concerns, and can show them a path to their promised land. This is a table stake.
I hope this helps.
